RAILS has signed an agreement to continue providing access to the Social Justice in Public Libraries program from Freedom Lifted for all member libraries.
This popular resource allows library staff to learn more about equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility in libraries. The course content is relevant and applicable to all library types.
This asynchronous course is a flexible learning opportunity suited for individual learners or a group learning environment.
Feedback from the course has continued to be positive. A survey done in March 2024 found that program participants felt that the material was easy to access and encouraged curiosity.
“From speaking with member libraries, we know this is a priority,” said RAILS Executive Director Monica Harris. “Providing access to these resources is part of the RAILS Strategic Plan and we are thrilled to be able to offer a product as dynamic and interactive as the Social Justice in Public Libraries program.”
The new contract will allow participants to utilize these resources until September 2025.
The program is open to anyone affiliated with a RAILS member library. Users must be logged in with their L2 information to create an account. The program is limited to 15 participants per library.
