RAILS is thrilled to announce the premiere of its newest podcast, Can’t Shelve This. The series is co-hosted by RAILS Data Analyst Janette Derucki and Illinois Heartland Library System School Library Membership Coordinator Leah Gregory.

The podcast aims to create a space for school library workers to feel seen, entertained, and informed all at once. Episode one, titled “You Can Totally Sit With Us,” introduces listeners to the podcast’s co-hosts as they discuss what they’ve observed happening across school libraries in Illinois—the good, the bad, and the ugly.

"Being a school librarian is a unique, and oftentimes lonely, experience," said RAILS Executive Director Monica Harris. "We're hoping that Can't Shelve This shines a well-deserved spotlight on school library workers and brings some levity into their lives through entertainment and connection."

Eight hour-long episodes will be released throughout the 2024-2025 school year featuring guests from across the country.

You can now listen to the first episode of Can’t Shelve This on popular streaming platforms, including Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and iHeartRadio. A video version of the podcast is available on YouTube
