The St. Charles Public Library is proud to announce the launch of STC Immersive, a state-of-the-art initiative designed to inspire, educate, and entertain the community in new and exciting ways.
This one-of-a-kind offering combines technology, storytelling, and stunning visual effects to create an engaging multi-sensory experience for patrons of all ages. Staff-produced shows will come to life on the library’s 10-foot high by 36-foot widescreen. Larger-than-life images can make users feel as though they are fully immersed in the content, offering an unforgettable viewing experience. St. Charles Public Library is the first in our field to bring ground-breaking digital immersive programming to the local community.
The program is designed to accommodate a wide range of ages and abilities, ensuring an inclusive and welcoming environment for all. Some shows are designated as being sensory-friendly performances with reduced lighting and adjusted sound levels.
From March 27–April 1, the inaugural immersive experience will showcase the first series “From the Earth to the Moon: An Immersive Celebration of the Visionary Authors who Inspired Space Exploration.”
“The immersive initiative reflects our commitment to evolving with the needs of modern library users,” said Library Director Kate Buckson. “We are thrilled to offer our patrons an experience that bridges technology and imagination while focusing on subject material with mass appeal.”
Access to STC Immersive is free to the public, but registration is required for most of the sessions. A series of over 20 shows are scheduled in March. Sessions can be reserved in person or online by visiting: www.scpld.org/programs-events and selecting “view calendar.”
This initiative has been made possible through the generous financial support of the St. Charles Library Foundation. For more information, contact Library Director Kate Buckson, at 630-584-0076 ext. 273, or kbuckson@scpld.org.
