RAILS is excited to announce that the Founders Library at Northern Illinois University (NIU) is bringing over two million items to the Find More Illinois platform. By joining as a lender-only, Northern Illinois University will bring unique collections not previously available to Find More Illinois users. There are currently more than 80 libraries participating in Find More Illinois. With the addition of Northern Illinois, the total number of items in the collection is now over 8.5 million.
“With NIU’s membership, the breadth and depth of the Find More Illinois collection grows considerably. Their contribution of 2 million items includes over 820,000 unique titles that did not exist in the current Find More Illinois collection. This means that it's a more robust and relevant tool than ever before!” said Monica Harris, RAILS Executive Director.
“It’s absolutely inspiring to watch the collection of resources on Find More Illinois grow stronger every day! NIU is thrilled to share our collection with users all across the state. We’re hopeful that this expanding access will inspire even more libraries to join and be part of this amazing community,” said Gwen Gregory, Associate Dean for Collections Management, NIU Libraries, and President of the RAILS Board.
Find More Illinois, RAILS’ statewide interlibrary loan platform, allows anyone to search multiple Illinois library catalogs in a single discovery interface. Patrons and staff of participating libraries can log in to place interlibrary loan requests. Participation is open to any interested Illinois library of any type, and fees are subsidized by RAILS to make participation affordable for all sizes and types of libraries.
