We understand that everyone learns differently, which is why we offer a mix of synchronous and asynchronous training options. Our webinars provide an interactive learning experience where you can ask questions, participate in discussions, and connect with other professionals. Our asynchronous courses via Moodle allow for flexibility within the scheduled time frame (generally six weeks).

RAILS is always looking to expand the cataloging training opportunities that we provide to our members. Is there a cataloging topic you are interested in that is not currently covered? Send an email to ce@railslibraries.info and let us know.

Illinois Cataloging Mentorship Program (iCAMP)

The Illinois Cataloging Mentorship Program (iCAMP) is for current or aspiring cataloging staff in Illinois. iCAMP aims to promote professional development, enhance cataloging skills, and foster networking through structured, respectful, and collaborative mentor-mentee interactions.

iCAMP is sponsored by Illinois Heartland Library System (IHLS) and Reaching Across Illinois library System (RAILS).

How It Works

The iCAMP Mentorship Program operates on a comprehensive year-long framework, designed to facilitate professional and personal development among its participants.

Over the course of twelve months, the iCAMP Mentorship Committee orchestrates a series of monthly engagements. These activities serve as focal points for the mentor and mentee. Participants are encouraged to engage beyond scheduled cohort meetings, fostering connections, discussing goals and expectations, and attending professional development and recreational events together.

Participation is limited to individuals who are employed within Illinois libraries, archives, or other library-adjacent employers such as vendors, or students who live in Illinois.

Benefits

Throughout the program, participants embark on a journey of personal and professional growth, with mentees taking actionable steps toward their goals and mentors gaining insights through teaching. At its core, the program is committed to promoting professional advancement, refining cataloging skills, and fostering networking opportunities. These objectives are achieved through a structured, respectful, and collaborative dynamic between mentors and mentees. Additionally, lasting relationships are forged among participants and within the Mentorship cohort.

The program accepts applications annually in the summer with a new cohort starting each fall.

You can learn more about this program on iCAMP website.
