The Gail Borden Library officially cut the ribbon on its South Elgin Branch on June 21, marking the occasion with the South Elgin Branch Grand Reopening Celebration. The South Elgin branch had undergone a 10-month-long renovation and expansion designed with the community in mind. The grand opening was a great success, with over 700 people in attendance. Desserts, a food truck, games, kids' crafts, superhero characters and live music were just a portion of the fun entertainment during the Grand Reopening. The South Elgin Branch has so many new features to explore, such as cozy study pods, an expanded children’s area and activity room, a calming Baby Garden, wellness room, new laptop dispensers and more. Attendees stated that their first impression of the new space was “incredible” and it’s “an amazing improvement.” This is a space designed to foster connection, ignite curiosity and empower lifelong learning.
