Waukegan Public Library is a recipient of the first annual Waukegan Arts Council grant to promote public art, encourage participation in the arts, and celebrate our diverse community. After interviewing a dozen applicants about their connection to Waukegan and the Library, and their vision for the project, we are pleased to announce Gaby and Stephanie Escovar have been selected to create "A Love Letter to Our Community." Their mural is a celebration of friendship, creativity, the spirit of Waukegan, and the library as a welcoming and inclusive space. While the mural will be painted in the Spring, the artists have developed programs and activities for fall and winter to share their love of art and include the community in the process.
