Alissa Janchenko is doing a workshop on how improv can improve customer service skills. She is a 20-plus year veteran of library service and coach of Quarried Away Improv. She has presented at the Illinois Youth Services Institute (2023) and the Illinois Library Association Annual Conference (2024). She has also been published in Careers in Library and Information Services: First-Hand Accounts from Working Professionals from Bloomsbury Press.
Improv encourages team communication, engagement, and comfort with the unknown. Key takeaways from this event include: improving customer service, teachable improv exercises for library staff, and ideas for team building through improv. We highly encourage participation in the improv exercises during the workshop.
