“Read anything good lately?” That’s the question Green Hills Public Library District (GHPLD) staff members Sara Shahein, Tessa Werden and Klaudia Gorgon set out to answer last September when they launched their first episode of the Checked Out podcast. One year and 12 episodes later, listeners now know that the conversations go well beyond books to include lively discussions about film and television, music, pop culture, and even video games.

Each episode, released on the first Wednesday of the month, now features a cozy conversation between Werden and Shahein that feels like hanging out with your favorite friend. “As library workers, we see how much ‘stuff’ is out there for people to consume,” said Werden. “We’re hoping to help break it down into something more digestible and maybe even create a spark for where to go next.”
