Job Description: Franklin Park Public Library District is seeking an energetic, creative, and flexible self-starter to join our Kids Crossing team. It is essential for the ideal candidate to enjoy interacting with children and their families individually and in groups, to possess excellent people skills, to have an appreciation for children’s literature, and to be comfortable with public speaking. Other desired qualities include being adept at collaboration, being highly self-motivated, able to prioritize tasks and work independently.
Job Duties: Job duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

Planning and presenting a weekly storytime, creating kits, and running in-person programs and events for children and their families.

Providing reference, reader’s advisory, and technology help at the Kids Crossing Desk.

Participating in school and community outreach events.

Developing and maintaining the children’s collection.

Requirements: Master of Library and Information Science degree. Some experience with public library services for children or equivalent experience working with children is preferred. A consideration will be made for students in the last semester of graduate school.
