The Bensenville Community Public Library seeks a creative, versatile, committed bilingual librarian to join our Adult Services Department. We're looking for a forward-thinking individual who enjoys trying new things, a healthy dose of variety in their day-to-day, and having fun at their job.
Bensenville is a dynamic, diverse community with a wide variety of residents from different socio-economic, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds; the needs of whom range greatly, as do the ways in which the library responds to those needs. An ideal fit for this position would enjoy exploring new ideas that address specific needs within the community- ideas that might expand the definition of what is typically thought of as the role of a library within a community. Other traits well-suited for this position include: strong communication and collaboration skills, an outgoing personality, and the ability to think on one's feet.
Duties include providing English and Spanish reference, information, and readers' advisory services for patrons, conducting programming as well as scheduling/hosting outside presenters, managing and developing the library's Adult Spanish language collection, performing outreach, and working with local organizations on developing cooperative programs related to serving the Spanish speaking community (-view the full job description here).
The BCPL is a medium-sized library located just west of O'Hare Airport on the eastern edge of DuPage County. Located between I-90, I-290, & I-294, we're easily reachable from most places in suburban Chicagoland and employ staff from both near and far. The library itself is located in a primarily residential neighborhood next to the Bensenville Park District and an elementary school district (with both of whom we collaborate frequently).
